| GreenTithe.com gathers the dollars received from the many affliate sites that are linked to from GreenTithe.com pages. These funds are then redistributed to non-profit environmental organizations. GreenTithe.com itself is not a non-profit, but a division of a web design and marketing firm that includes usaretail.info, illinoisretail.com, and copsid.com.
In January, 2002 we discovered that many of the sites we had designed for the local Chicago market were achieving national top 10 positions in such search engines as Google, AOL, MSN and others. By the year's end, inspired by the environmental work being done at Warren Wilson College in North Carolina and the Jane Goodall Institute, we concluded that we would like to use our skills to achieve high positions for web sites with an environmental emphasis and at the same time making it possible for the environment to profit from our skills.
A December, 2002 test of this affiliate system within usaretail.info brought in over $1000 in affliate receipts in that month. This compelled us to set up this program, initiated on 1/3/03 with this page going live on 1/27/03.
Labor and costs for design and maintenance of this site are contributed by this firm and not deducted from affiliate receipts. 100% of affiliate receipts from 'Green Zone' GreenTithe.com pages go to environmental organizations and institutions.
EnvironmentDirectory.info is a congregation of environmental organizations, publications and institutions - partner to the GreenTithe.com consumer directory.
